American Chinese Cuisine and Favorite Food Essay Example

American Chinese Cuisine and Favorite Food Essay June 08, 2010 Experiencing Chow-Mein If I were to ask a group of people â€Å"What is your favorite food? † most of them would say countless varieties of food, starting with the delicious French pushing it to Chinese and Indian Cuisine. But whatever it is, whenever it comes to my favorite food, I would say Chow-Mein, which hit the top of my most favorite food. Chow-Mein is a Chinese term for a dish of stir-fried noodles, which eventually carries many varieties: chicken Chow-Mein, beef Chow-Mein or even pork Chow-Mein and of course for vegetable lovers, there’s vegetable Chow-Mein. There are two types of Chow-Mein that are available: 1. Steam Chow-Mein and 2. Crispy Chow-Mein and both can be mixed with either chicken, beef, pork or vegetable. And my favorite is the crispy Chow-Mein, as how it’s made with fried chicken, mixed with celery or onion and topped with soy sauce and sugar and other delicious colorful ingredients. Chow-Mein has bought many cultures and tradition together with its fancy and scrumptious juicy taste. I can still remember how Chow-Mein became my favorite food. Every bit of this wonderful dish draws me back to my childhood when I first experienced this satisfying dish with my parents in a Chinese restaurant in Anaheim called Grand China when I was only 6 years old. It was a nice hot summer when my parents decided to a fancy Chinese restaurant, which recently open near our house and since I was 6, I didn’t know much about Chinese food and how there are so many varieties of Chinese food there are. Then we were taken to our table and were given a complimentary drink, which was tasteless and odorless but refreshing. There we many people there and were ordering many varieties of foods, that I have never seen before. Then my parents were looking at the menu and ordered something special for me that I never tried before but my parents has. My parents said it’s called Chow-Mein a famous Chinese dish. So, I was excited and couldn’t wait to see my food. Few minute passed by and a waitress came with our food, and there I see my food, there’s the food I’ve been waiting to try. The Chow-Mein had this appetizing smell that drew me too eat this mysterious dish. And as I got the Chow-Mein in my plates, I was moving it back and forth with me fork, thinking if I should eat it or not as most food doesn’t taste or smells as it looks. After thinking a lot, I thought I should give it a try and took my first bite. The first bite brought joy and happiness in me because of the juicy and crunchy taste, with a bit of spice and which made the whole dish delightful. With pleasant surprise, the food I feared a minute ago became the most favorite food. Chow-Mein happens to be the most authentic Chinese cuisine in America as well as India because of its wonderful texture and it delightful taste. Preparing Chow-Mein is a wonderful experience because how it brings family and friends together and knows a lot about one another. During special occasion my mom prepares Chow-Mein. Chow-Mein doesn’t only consist of long crispy strings but has many ingredients that go with and in my family my mom gives each one of us a job to get the ingredient ready and mix everything, while my mom prepares the last stage. When we make Chow-Mein my dad’s job is to cut the meat, whether it is chicken or beef and clean it before can be fried or mixed with other ingredient and then my job is to cut the vegetable or onion and celery and wash them, so everything is fresh to cook. When everything is ready and clean my mom does the last part and that is cooking. There are special sauce you can use to cook Chow-Mein which gives the Chow-Mein its special appetizing smell and its wonderful texture. So, by help from my friends and family I also learned how to make Chow-Mein, although it doesn’t come exactly the way I first experienced it in Grand China or how my mom cooks it, it still gives me the courage to try over and over again, till I get professional on cooking Chow-Mein. Knowing that not only our own family prepares this delightful dish but other cultures have started to follow this Chinese dish as well and also came across many other delicious Chinese cuisines. There are many people who can cook or create countless different types of food with their special techniques and form of cooking experience. But there are many people who have problem trying other foods because it doesn’t look good or doesn’t smell right and make negative comments about the food, rather than appreciating what the other person do to come up with. But there are some foods that doesn’t look good but taste great, and many don’t try it because of its appearance. A TV show I recently watched on the Travel Channel who always said that â€Å"If something looks god, eat it† (Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern), and by that I came about many food because you never know what you might come across and for me it was Chow-Mein.

About That Mysterious Astronomical Clock in Prague

About That Mysterious Astronomical Clock in Prague Tick tock, whats the oldest clock? The idea of decorating buildings with a timepiece goes back a long way, says Dr. Jià ¸Ãƒ (Jiri) Podolskà ½, from Charles University in Prague. The square, lion-flanked tower in Padua, Italy was built in 1344. The original Strasbourg clock, with angels, hour glasses, and crowing roosters, was built in 1354. But, if youre looking for a highly ornamental, astronomical clock with its original workings intact, Dr. Podolskà ½ says this: Go to Prague. Prague: Home to the Astronomical Clock Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, is a crazy quilt of architectural styles. Gothic cathedrals soar over Romanesque churches. Art Nouveau facades nestle alongside Cubist buildings. And, in every part of the city are clock towers. The oldest and most celebrated clock is on the side wall of the Old Town Hall in Old Town Square. With glittering hands and a complex series of filigreed wheels, this ornamental timepiece doesnt merely mark the hours of a 24-hour day. Symbols of the zodiac tell the course of the heavens. When the bell tolls, windows fly open and mechanical apostles, skeletons, and sinners begin a ritualistic dance of destiny. The irony of the Prague Astronomical Clock is that for all its mastery at keeping time, it is nearly impossible to place in time. Chronology of the Prague Clock Dr. Podolskà ½ believes the original clock tower in Prague was built in about 1410. The original tower was no doubt modeled after  ecclesiastical bell towers that were sweeping the continents architecture. The complexity of gears would have been very high-technology back in the early 15th century.   It was a simple, unadorned structure back then, and the clock showed only astronomical data. Later, in 1490, the tower facade was decorated with flamboyant Gothic sculptures and a golden astronomical dial. Then, in the 1600s, came the mechanical figure of Death, leering and tolling the great bell. The mid-1800s brought still more additions- wooden carvings of the twelve apostles and a calendar disk with astrological signs. Todays clock is thought to be the only one on earth to keep sidereal time in addition to our regular time- thats the difference between a sidereal and lunar month. Stories About Pragues Clock Everything in Prague has a story, and so it is with the Old Town clock. Natives claim that when the mechanical figures were created, town officials had the clockmaker blinded so that he would never duplicate his masterpiece. In vengeance, the blind man climbed the tower and stopped his creation. The clock remained silent for more than fifty years. Centuries later, during dreary decades of communist domination, the legend of the blinded clockmaker became a metaphor for thwarted creativity. At least thats the way the story goes. When Clocks Become Architecture Why do we turn timepieces into architectural monuments? Perhaps, as Dr. Podolskà ½ suggests, builders of early clock towers wanted to show their respect for the heavenly order. Or, perhaps the idea runs even deeper. Was there ever an era when humans didnt build great structures to mark the passage of time? Just look at the ancient Stonehenge in Great Britain. Now thats an old clock! Legal regulatory , and etical issues Research Paper

Legal regulatory , and etical issues - Research Paper Example One of the infamous instances I had witnessed was the discrimination of black employees by the MacDonald Incorporation. Despite the claim that McDonald is a discrimination-free organization, its franchisee Michael Simon of West Virginia was taken to court for discriminating against its employees purely on their racial background (Loevy, 2011). It was alleged that the company had indiscriminately fired 10 black employees who had earlier been exposed to discriminatory practices such as perpetual insults and sexual harassment. Rather than hurling abusing words like ‘bitch,’ ‘hot Mexican’ and ‘ghetto’ to these blacks, they were improperly touched and compelled to have sexual affairs with their white supervisors (Burstein, 2005). This was an act of discrimination that directly violated Equal Employment Opportunity Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act which outlaws workplace discrimination and advocate for equal treatment of employees. In my capacity as a leader, I would like to recommend that such unfortunate incidents can be eliminated by providing legal education to all the departmental heads and informing them on the angers of such violations (Branch, 2008). Besides, as a leader, I would act as a role model by creating a discrimination-free working environment for everyone else to

Death Penalty Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Death Penalty - Research Paper Example The death penalty Introduction There are many punishments that a criminal can face if found guilty of a greater crime, but none is as jarring and final as the death penalty. The death penalty is the sentencing of death to a person who has been found guilty of a criminal offense. When a crime results in the death penalty, the crime is known as a capital crime or capital offense. A lesser crime does not hold the possibility of resulting in the death penalty; a person may face the death penalty if they are found guilty of first degree murder, but not for grand larceny. The death penalty in the United States is only inflicted when the guilty offender has willingly taken the innocent life of another or more than one person. In some states, attempted suicide can be met with the death penalty as the person is attempting to take a life (Carmen, 2008). The ultimate purpose of the death penalty is to take a life for another life. The death penalty is considered to be one of the most controvers ial punishments for criminal offenders. While there are people that believe the punishment follows the adage â€Å"eye for an eye†, there are still others that feel that governments and countries should be â€Å"practicing what they preach† instead of condoning murder by killing another, even if it is done in the name of justice. Regardless of these opinions, the death penalty is alive and well in thirty-five states, the United States military, and the United States government, as well as countless other countries. History of the death penalty law The death penalty has been around for hundreds of years in the United States, though it also has history in Europe in the pre-America era. Practiced by many countries and villages, the death penalty was not nearly as sophisticated as it is today. First and foremost, the death penalty was not only limited to murder, but expanded to include sexual crimes, such as adultery and sodomy, drug and human trafficking, and treason. Som e countries today still recognize some of these offenses as crimes being worthy of the death penalty. Treason resulting in the death penalty is still highly common among militaries throughout the world. If another life was taken or put at stake, then the person who placed them in that position would be faced with death. The methods of how the death penalty was to be implemented have also evolved. One of the earliest methods of the death penalty was by means of stoning. Usually regarded as a public spectacle to make both the crime and the consequence known, the criminal would stand in a designated meeting area before many of the townspeople, all of whom would often play a part in throwing the stones that would kill the criminal (Hood & Hoyle, 2008). Other antiquated methods included hanging and beheading; again, these would take place in public areas to serve as a lesson to prevent further criminal activity. Torture was another common method, one that is looked upon today as being bo th immoral and unethical. Other methods that were observed, though were not as common, were boiling to death, disembowelment, burning, or being slowly sliced or impaled repeatedly. People during these times did not have the fancy machines or equipment that we have now, so they had no choice but to work with what they already had. They got creative with their punishments, looking for methods that would not only get the job done but also supply the criminal with plenty of pain. The gruesome images

Korean Airlines and Asiana Airlines Comparison

Korean Airlines and Asiana Airlines Comparison PARK EUNHEEÂ   Question 1 Operational shall possess and control the product or service that meets the process of planning and meeting the product or customer needs. Companies should be allowed to produce at reasonable costs. They must fine-tune their production processes to focus on quality, to hold down the costs of materials and labor, and to eliminate all costs that add no value to the finished product. Making the decisions involved in the effort to attain these goals is the job of the operations manager (web-books).The operational manager shall plan the necessary solutions for planning, proceeding, and planning. I am going to discuss compare Korean Airlines (failure) and Asiana Airlines (success). Asiana Airlines is the nations No.1 airline. Looking at the two airlines, I want to see what the difference is. Therefore, one can look at the parts that Korean Air needs to develop. Corporate philosophy First, Asiana Airlines (failure) Corporate Philosophy As a basic philosophy, Asiana Airlines is implementing the management philosophy of Customer Satisfaction through the Best Safety and Service , which is the safest, fastest, and most pleasant way to meet customers time and place . (PhilosophyCorporate, 2017) Second, Korean Air will continue to strive to achieve the mission of Excellence in Flight. In addition, we will strengthen our competitiveness through rapid and flexible response to market changes and customer needs, and we will pursue sustainable growth and become a leader in the aviation industry. (philosophyManagement, 2017) Various educational programs Korean Air has organized a separate training center for specialized training in specialized job fields such as navigation, maintenance, and rooms. In addition, we are overcoming the limitations of time and place, and are activating online education to enable selective learning that meets individual needs. We are continuously developing rich contents such as acquiring business knowledge, cultivating service mind, foreign language course for global business execution (programsVarious, 2017; programsVarious, 2017; programsVarious, 2017) (VISIONHR, 2017) Asiana Airlines (failure) says human personnel is the most precious resource and gives equal opportunities for all members of the company, giving equal rewards and fair compensation. Lastly, they are trying to work as a corporate culture that allows businesses to freely communicate with other families that are free to use. Asiana Airlines is providing a systematic education with a vision of developing a global leader promoting future values and accomplishments. Through three leadership programs, education is strengthening, strengthening professional education, and strengthening service education. In addition, employees are conducting an organization culture education involving employees. Like this same series of companies, but it have slightly different operating programs and educational programs. By comparison, Asiana Airlines has a more specific and diverse variety of programs than Korean Air. Also, Asiana Airlines employees through specialized training programs to educate and trai n employees through continuous integration, education, and solving problems. Finally, you can find out the special parts that Asiana Airlines have. In order to manage the performance of staff, the portion of the evaluation is similar to those of the two airlines, but Asiana Airlines performs both the coaching and interim check. It is important to objectively evaluate and assess objectives when setting goals and evaluating performance. However, it is very important to monitor and provide feedback to employees through an interim check review prior to the performance appraisal. Through this time, staff will modify and strengthen their behavior. Such a time will soon produce better results in performance appraisal. Also, Asiana Airlines has customers first through corporate philosophy. However, Korean Air takes priority over corporate culture. Of course, it is also a system for customers, but I think it is right that the customer has the philosophy to go first. I think that if Korean Air thinks about customers first and educates them, they can be better airlines and better airlines. To become an internationally recognized airline, it is a challenge not to stay in position. Question 2 Production management, and the organization and function of which is controlled collectively. Production activities are limited to manufacturing activities, especially purchasing, manufacturing, finance and labor. The academic system, which effectively and efficiently manages the production of products and services, has long used the term production management because production management originated in the original manufacturing industry, or factory. However, while the service sector recently started to grow the share of traditional economic management is the name of the manufacturer as well as production operations management. There are four objectives for production management. The first is Cost. Production must be mass-produced, facilities should be used as long as possible, and maintenance costs should be low. Inventories of finished products and raw materials should be kept to a minimum, and costs for rework and waste should be minimized. The second is Quality. High quality is defined as a quality that is far higher than the competitors quality and is good enough to be sold despite the high price. Third is Delivery. It is refers to the ability to deliver products or services to customers at the time and place they want. Lastly is flexibility. Flexibility refers to the ability to quickly adjust production quantities in response to fluctuations in demand, and to rapidly develop new products to meet consumer needs or preferences, or to change product designs in a variety of ways. With these goals, can look at the basic system of production. A production system is systems that include all the functions required to design, produce, and services the system. There are four main parts of the system. Input is whatever goes into the system. Process is where various kinds of operation take place. Output is whatever is produced by the system. Feedback is where information about the output is used to change the input, or change the process, or start up another system. Production system is part of a comprehensive production management system that enables the planning process to be carried out according to plan, preparation of raw materials, planning, calendar scheduling, and planning for the project. (systemsProduction, 2017) Â   New service development involves everything involving product or service design, business model design and marketing. The service system develops new services by investigating markets, types, profits, and period. Test the new business model for customers, testing profitability and potential. Through this process, they can create a finished product. Another important part of the service is competitiveness. Competitiveness means that a product or service offered by a company sells better than its competitors in the market. As long as you have the competitiveness, the company can secure profits by increasing sales. Competition in the market is made by price, quality, product differentiation, elasticity (ability to cope with change) and procurement period. To compete effectively, companies need to understand the market and have enough time to explore and respond to competitors strategy. I am going to discuss what is wrong with the production and service systems of Tesla. I want to find a solution. Specially, Tesla is a company that produces automobiles. Production car is a typical industries that rely on large factory and modern production equipment, granular division of labor, a large-scale homogenization of the labor force. Therefore, it is necessary to cooperate and harmonize with each other in the processes, and smooth flow of production activities and organic combination are absolutely important. When I read this article, I thought it was the biggest problem of Tesla. Tesla has the capacity to build 500,000 vehicles a year at its Fremont, CA plant. But last year it barely managed to build 50,000. This year, it will probably struggle to build 80-90,000. Meanwhile, it has reservations of 375,000 for its forthcoming Model 3 mass-market car, which was unveiled earlier this year and should arrive by 2017. (file:///C:/Users/park/Downloads/Assignment%201-Operations%20management%20.pdf, 2017) The biggest problem with Tesla, why is it not natural for the company to create cars? Tesla is built a new factory to improve manufacturing capacity, but the production of existing plants is not functioning properly. The bigger problem here is that there is no system to properly manage this.Through this article, Tesla knows that the production is not working properly. This is a major drawback to growing up. To succeed in the success of new factory, must overcome factory problems. ÂÂ  In my opinion, the problem is the production management system that can be carried out according to plan. The problem seems to have failed and the feedback has not been answered. I think this problem arises because all the resources (manpower, equipment, materials) in the production process are inoperable. As a result, Tesla is showing this result because it is inconsistent with the input, process, output, and feedback of the production systems. Tesla has invested a huge amount of its budget on creating more industries and infrastructures. However, it is not right to start a new thing without solving the existing problems. In the end, many more losses are left behind. Secondly, Tesla should pay attention to the service. Because they were lack sufficient services to products. The service system shall be configured so that customers can easily understand the various processes through various processes. In order to increase competitiveness, Tesla should keep the service and the process in its highest state. Must develop and develop continuously in production and service system. These developments should be accompanied by staff and customers. In conclusion, we will develop products that are practical and competitive by developing products and operating systems through various studies. This operation is helpful to the development of the company. And it will be a high satisfaction company. In closing, through this project, I am learned more about production and service. A production system is not simply a system of designing and generating systems, but a system that manages and manages planning, service projects, feedback and everything according to plan. And I also felt the importance of the service system. By researching and designing products, they can create a business model, show employees and customers, and make sure that they are able to produce high-quality, profitable products through their feedback. Competitive advantage in global competition depends on the ability to provide high quality products or services at reasonable prices. In addition, faster delivery, faster introduction of new products and new services are becoming important factors in securing competitive advantage over competing companies. Technological changes also enable the production of new products or services and affect production processes. As computer and information technology evolve, new opportunities arise. If I continue to study business and become a manager or manager of a company, I think this information will surely help. Question 3 To connect all the efficiency and profitability in order to maximize the leverage of the organization and shall operate coherently. If theres a problem with the company, theres some sort of operational leverage. Operating leverage operates in a system that complements systems in various enterprises. These businesses have well-defined strategies for the future. Operating strategy ensures that business units compete with competitive advantage over time to support the desired operational structure, infrastructure, and specific set of features it consists of a decision pattern that allows you to achieve it.And also, depending on the changing needs of the business, it can be reflected. These operations should be higher stability and potential. Also, in harmony with all other elements it must work efficiently. Operational strategies have to choose the best way to achieve the objectives and operation. The change in the operating profits is in the reasonable leverage of the company. I am goi ng to discuss what Ryanairs operating lever problems are and write about solutions. The problem with Ryanair, which can be seen through this article, is that it does not care about customers. Because the company offers to already cheap price on airline tickets, they do not have to care customers. But they are missing this part. As a result, the production capacity of the company is gradually lowered affect the profit of the enterprise. The problem of constant customer management leads to companies that customers do not seek despite cheap price. Therefore, Ryanair should be first improved customer satisfaction. If so, the profit of the enterprise comes naturally. As a result, the companys production capacity is gradually lowered, affecting the profit of the enterprise. What does they need any solution for customer care improvement? First, by default there are four key elements. 1. Cost structure While businesses are used to identifying areas of high cost, it is equally important to examine the structure of the cost base (balance between fixed and variable, labour vs IT, operations vs corporate overhead, etc.) and trends in this structure over time. The focus on operations functions tends to be because it is easier to measure their productivity or value. Support and corporate functions are harder to measure precisely because they are essentially knowledge based functions. The key is to develop an appropriate metric for the value that they bring and the investment that is required. 2. Organisation of work Organisational restructuring is an important tool to realign the business with a new strategic direction or to improve productivity. Further analysis is necessary to determine the optimum configuration of teams (skills and responsibilities) and allocation of work (steps in a process). For example, a team may work more efficiently and provide better customer service if they complete the entire process for a particular customer. Alternatively, developing expertise in a particular part of the process may result in greater productivity and better service to customers. Your teams are the experts in what works and doesnt work. Encourage them through a formal process and rewards to maintain a focus on this aspect of business productivity. 3. Business processes This lever continues to be used effectively by businesses and more rigorous approaches such as Six Sigma have gained new currency in recent years. However, with the increased availability of off the shelf technology solutions and enabling technology such as middleware and workflow, the challenge for business is how to maximise the value-add from knowledge based activities as distinct from automation of more standardised, repeatable activities. This requires new ways of thinking regarding process, skills development and training of staff in order to achieve productivity improvement across the business. 4. Knowledge managementWe have referred to knowledge management several times. This is a discipline and a process which is much talked about but often relegated to the realms of information management which in some businesses is viewed as a step above records management. Every business now operates in a global, knowledge based economy. The lever to manipulate for improved performance is the ability to make knowledge an active ingredient in day to day operations. A current example is product life cycle management software. This software not only captures knowledge at every stage of a process for reuse but brings diverse functions together, e.g. Marketing and Engineering, to share information in a common format. Not only does this result in a better product but it also delivers productivity improvement in the process. (Doman Vaughan, 2017) Ryanairs operations manager must first understand the basic elements above. Then we need to educate our employees and develop the system. Efficient and accurate operating system causes an ongoing relationship with customers. In order to improve the productivity of the company it requires the efforts of many officers and staff. They are constantly getting new education must work to improve the operating system. Particularly the operating manager must develop better program based on the knowledge to improve production. However, this requires a rational business after identifying the organization and cost-based structure of the enterprise. In order to improve customer satisfaction, it is essential to provide employees with products that can meet customer expectations, effectively handle customer complaints, and improve employees welfare and sense of unity. Finally customer satisfaction is just the quality of the products but also products with inherent to the product throughout the entire process, including planning, design, design, production, after-sales service of the product corporate culture image, providing a corporate philosophy to customers and consumers satisfaction to We must meet customer expectations more than ever, so customers should be able to increase their repurchase rates and maintain their preference. If Ryanair understands and operates this lever, naturally, customer satisfaction is ensured up a fixed hierarchy. In other words, customer satisfaction management is a management method that seeks to secure long-term and continuous stable profit base that is unaffected by market changes by taking customer satisfaction as the ultimate management goal, deviating from the previous management goal of increasing market share and cost reduction. Internet Censorship Essay - America Needs Censorship of Cyberspace

America Needs Censorship of Cyberspace      Ã‚  Ã‚   In June of 1998 the country was horrified to learn of the death of James Byrd Jr. He was a 49-year-old black man who had been found horribly mutilated after being dragged to death. If a person reads an emotionally charged, hate-filled website and then commits an act of violence, can the creator and owner of the website also be found guilty?    No laws have yet been established to censor material in cyberspace. The Communications Decency Amendment, which sought to ban pornography and other offensive material on the web, was struck down in Congress last year. The Internet has exploded in the past decade. It is everywhere and millions of people have access to it, through work, school, and home. As the Internet becomes a part of daily life for more and more people, laws need to be made to banning pornographic, racist, and other offending websites, to protect citizens from the threats these websites pose. Although some may see this as an infringement of their First Amendment rights, it is important for us as a society to reject these ideas and ban these websites.    Many lawmakers want to establish laws to control what is available on the Internet. Their number one reason is the availability of everything on the Internet to children. Even though parental controls, software that blocks offensive sites to children, are available many parents fail to use them. Senator J. James Exon, who proposed the amendme... ...Victor J. Vitanza. s In The Closet.

Free Essays on Skeleton\'s In The Closet. Skeletons in the closet It is the year 2112 and the incurable ‘kills all’ disease plagues the world. The disease attacks all forms of life and has spread at such a fast rate that nobody has been able to find a cure. Scientists attempting to find a cure for the disease are more susceptible to catching the disease; this has caused mass hysteria, especially in what remains of the United States of America. People are confined to sealed buildings and old bomb shelters, as the disease has not yet been reported to pass through solid walls. The disease however can pass through cracks in walls having a devastating effect, as it wipes out the large numbers of people that have packed into the building or shelter in a matter of minutes. Human, animal and plant numbers as halved since the outbreak a few days ago, and it seems that even if people keep hiding they will be avoiding the inevitable as at this rate the disease will wipe out human food resources in a matter of days. The wacky President of what was left of the United States of America, George Bush VIII, in light of the crisis promises a large reward to anyone who would free the world from this plague. As nobody can get near to finding a cure before meeting their untimely death since the President’s announcement, President George Bush VIII upped the stakes. The President announced that he would grant the Nobel Peace Prize, fame, fortune and marriage to Super-Galactic-Model Neptula Smith, (who had volunteered for the cause as part of her Charity for the Galaxy Appeal) to the person who would rid the world of the ‘kills all’ disease. Two brothers, Fred and Bob Jones, in the ruined state of Tennessee caught word of the rewards offered for the cure to the ‘kills all’ disease and decided, seeing as they were MAD scientists to start work on the project despite the daunting fact that there was a great possibility that they would die, as had other great scientists of the day. Business law - Case Study Example Based on the second case, Buchanan County and Davis also committed negligent retention of Batz as an employee despite several complaints of misconduct against him (Batz). Evidence presented in the second case included recommendations by Lieutenant Furness, to Davis, proposing termination of Batz as a canine handler. Evidence by Captain Hepke also proposed disciplinary actions against Batz. Davis disregarded all the complaints about Batz as submitted by different parties. On the first instance, a jury returned a ruling that favored Kiesau and offered her $ 160, 000 as compensation. For the second instance, the court ruled against Kiesau by dismissing the negligent supervision and retention claims against Buchanan County & Davis. Argument: Under the laws on negligent hiring and retention applicable in Iowa State, Buchanan County & Davis, were liable for wrongful conduct by facilitating Bazt’s tortious actions through failure to act on several recommendations and complaints. Issues: Were the Republic of France and the French lines liable for the resultant injuries owing to obvious laxity in rules and regulation on smoking at the port loading and offloading bay backing constitution of approximate cause? Rule: If the subsequent action, force, or occurrences that are evident as direct contributors to the injuries suffered by the plaintiff were not probable, many juries hold that it is an intervening cause. Subsequently it pardons the defendant of liability from dangers that trace back directly from the superseding cause. A Question of Discrimination Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

A Question of Discrimination - Research Paper Example In other words, the equal rights legislation covers the Federal Government’s prevailing concerns in employment as emancipated by the EEOC. This in return should remind every company to abide by this rule. Based on the equal rights legislation and regulation emancipated by the EEOC, questions that at some point would lead to discrimination are strongly prohibited (National Archives, 2012; US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2012). These questions are not just discriminatory at some sort, but would degrade the civil rights as everyone has the freedom to life. Acquiring a job for instance is a form of meeting this life’s basic concern. Discriminatory questions during job interviews would at some point undermine this elemental human right. What Dan and Alex manifested that would make Ruth cringe was a violation to the basic human rights at work that falls under other relevant employment conditions. At some point, their actuation was a significant manifestation of a discriminatory deed, creating a hostile environment for Ruth at work. In this regard, the management should ensure emancipating core values and policies against acts that would create a hostile environment for employment. Up to this moment, Jennifer and Mel should familiarize EEO-related matters. The reason why they could not implement the right procedure against actions that are becoming hostile to employment is due to lack of actual know-how on the EEO-related matters. Even though they might have knowledge of it, they have no confidence in implementing company policies in line with EEO-related matters. The company core values should be set and this should have its basic foundation on EEO. National Archives. (2012).
